Huck & Sawyer

Huck and Sawyer found themselves at the Beaufort County Animal Shelter in North Carolina.  It is a high-kill shelter that gasses---so that was their fate- until Mary & Denyce w/ InnerBanks Canine Rescue stepped in and pulled them out.  Janie & Cheri w/ PetConnect Rescue found a foster home in Maryland that could take them both, and Pilots N Paws provided transport!  Huck was an owner surrender, and Sawyer was a stray.  Their 'time' was up and they would have been euthanized if this rescue had not taken place.  They were taken to Pamlico Animal Hospital to be vetted, neutered.

Many thanks go to everyone who helped save these two wonderful dogs, and thanks especially to Sallie Gotautas who organized the transport.

A week ago Huck and Sawyer faced death by gassing.  Now they look forward to Thanksgiving turkey.

Nick about to start Leg 1 to get these wonderful souls to happy new lives
Sawyer about to start the first of a two-leg journey
This is Huck, Sawyer's shelter buddy.   They are best friends and I'm so happy they will be fostered together.
Team Mutt Muffs Cheri and Michele meet Pilot #1 Nick and the two dogs at Chesterfield Co. airport, which is just west of Richmond, VA
These young boys are such lovebugs.  They crave human affection and will make perfect additions to a lucky family soon
Sawyer is especially needy and took every opportunity to climb on anyone's lap.  That's 50 pounds of love right there.
