Huck and Murphy

November 27, 2010

Two Foxhounds in Florida were given up by their owner.  He did this to avoid a citation, since he was not keeping them in good living conditions

Their plight touched the hearts of Danby's family in Massachusetts.  They generously offered to adopt the both of them.   They are best friends, so we are so happy they will stay together.

These guys started out in Leesburg, Florida.   The big guy jumped off in Savannah to meet his new mom, Pam

The two Foxhounds hopped on their next flight with Pilot #2, Jim, and flew to Farmville, Virginia

The darlings arrive in Farmville, VA and meet Team Mutt Muffs Arthur and the nice lady who works at the airport.   She came out to help us walk the dogs.

Art poses with the duo, before we load up and head to Allentown, Pennsylvania

This was a challenging flight.   The winds were strong, and the turbulence was forecast as "moderate".    Moderate in a 747 maybe. In a little Cessna, it was pretty bad.

Nonetheless, we arrived on schedule at KXLL Allentown, PA, where we met the pups' next pilot Margery.    She had the privilege of flying the anchor leg to get these loveable boys to their new family

The boys finally arrive in Massachusetts.   I think they know how lucky they are.

Finally after four long flights, these wonderful dogs get to meet their new family.   They named them Huck and Murphy.

I just went upstairs to check on them and they are sound asleep on their bed. They did a lot of checking around. Huck wanted to help himself to the plates on the table, Murphy really wanted to take apart a stuffed moose! They did a lot of running around. Murphy is a lot braver than Huck. Huck can't do the stairs yet by himself, so he got a little edgy a few times when Murphy left him stranded. Toby (our Black Lab) seems to be somewhat bemused by them and is tolerating them so far. I think they will all become great buddies. They are fine with the cats too! Very cute little doggies! Thank you all again.
Danby
