Shelley and her puppies, Maddie, Morgan, Jasper and Anna

As told by Pam, rescue volunteer from NC...

Shelly is a little 35 lbs. golden/sheltie mix that was an owner surrender to a local shelter 8 days before she gave birth to 6 puppies.

Animal Rescue Foundation, out of Beacon, NY asked me if I would foster the family for them.  I rescued Shelly and her pups from the shelter when the pups were a couple days shy of being a week old.

When the pups were almost 4 weeks old, I lost 2.  The remaining 4 were taken away from mom and bottle/syringe fed until they were able to eat on their own. The remaining 4, especially 3 of them, had a tough go of it but were able to pull through.

They all, including Shelly, are now healthy and ready for their new forever homes.  Thank you Ann (ARF) for taking the family, and thanks to pilots John and Elliott for making it possible.

Shelly gives a grateful smile.  She and her puppies now have an incredible chance to find great homes.  Only weeks before, she was about to give birth in a high-kill shelter.

Good luck to Shelly and all her puppies!
